Q: Are counselors available during the campus closure?

A: Yes. During the Summer Session, the Counseling Center is avaliable from 7:30 am to 6 pm Monday through Thursday and is closed Friday. Fall and Spring semesters, the Counseling Center is open from 8 am to 7 pm Monday through Thursday and 8 am to 5 pm Friday. Counseling services will only be available by phone or online.

Counseling services can be accessed in the following ways:

  • To schedule an appointment via ESARS Reservation System: RSVP Here
  • Schedule an Appointment: Contact the Counseling Center by phone by dailing 949-451-5319. Appointments will be conducted by phone and/or online depending on the needs and desires of the student. Please note that a computer or smart device will be needed for online appointments.

  • Speak with a Drop-in Counselor Online (during business hours): Log in to Cranium Cafe (you do not need to be a student to use this system).
  • Speak with a Drop-in Counselor by Phone (during business hours): Contact the Counseling Center by phone at 949-451-5319 and ask to be placed on a call-back list.
  • Email a Counselor: Counselors can be reached via email at ivccounseling@ivc.edu.
  • Sign up for a workshop: Click on the following link.

Q: Are counselors available for same-day phone call backs?

A: Yes, a counselor can contact you during business hours for brief questions. To be placed on a call-back list, email us at ivccounseling@ivc.edu or call 949-451-5319 and one of our staff members will assist you.

Q: How long will my appointment with the counselor be?

A: General counseling appointments will be scheduled for 30 minutes. Special programs such as Promise, GAP 4+1, Athletics, and Honors will be scheduled for 30 minutes.

Q: Should I go to campus for my counseling appointment?

A: No, the campus is closed until further notice. This means that all counseling appointments will be held through Zoom, Cranium Cafe, Google Voice, or a phone call.

Q: What do I do if I have transcripts that need to be evaluated?

A: All documentation can be submitted via email to the counselor. Students may also enter their completed course work from other institutions in Transferology before the appointment and request Irvine Valley College to start a preliminary review of courses that are not in the Transferology database.

Q: Will the Counseling Center be offering workshops during the closure?

A: Yes. While our campus is closed, the Counseling Center will offer various online workshops via Zoom. To sign up for these workshops, click on the following link here and enter your student ID number.

Q:How can I get a counselor to review and approve my MAP/Academic Plan?

A: Counselors are still available by phone by calling 949-451-5319 or online to review and approve your MAP/Academic Plan.

Q: Are you still processing overload petitions, to allow a student to register for more than 19 units?
