The Counseling Center counselors psychological interns at Irvine Valley College offer help to students with their academic, career, and personal concerns. The counseling faculty help students clarify their needs, make decisions, set goals, and deal effectively with personal obstacles while the mental health services offered by the Health and Wellness Center address a multitude of personal issues. The relationship between student and counselor is confidential.
The following are some of the services available to students:
Mental Health Counseling:
Personal counseling includes help with relationship problems, interpersonal communication, self-awareness, stress management, behavior change, and referrals to on-campus and off-campus resources. Students may also receive mental health services in the Health and Wellness Center.
Program planning, selecting a major, evaluating transcripts, exploring transfer options and requirements, developing study skills, time-management, overcoming test anxiety, petitioning for certificates and degrees and more.
Career planning courses, vocational testing, investigating career options, developing and implementing career goals, job search training, and more.
