Help a Distressed Friend

Irvine Valley College students can receive counseling from the dedicated and knowledgeable counselors and staff at the Counseling Center. Students can also receive mental health help at the Health and Wellness Center by therapists. Both are located in the Student Services Center.

However, some may turn to a friend first. That friend may be you. When a friend turns to you, it is because they trust and respect you. Also, you may be the first to recognize when a friend needs help. You can suggest supportive services such as the IVC Counseling Center or the IVC Health and Wellness Center, or one of the emergency hotlines at the right, in the middle of a crisis or suicide intervention.

You can also aid and comfort your friends through education, and being knowledgeable about stress related factors.
